Qualcomm Launches AI R&D Centre in Vietnam
U.S. chipmaker Qualcomm (AI) has officially opened an artificial intelligence research and development centre in Vietnam. This strategic initiative was announced by the company on Tuesday.
The centre's researchers will concentrate on enhancing generative and agentic AI solutions applicable across various domains, including smartphones, personal computers, extended reality (XR), automotive, and Internet of Things (IoT) applications.
Qualcomm's move aligns with Vietnam's national strategies on AI, semiconductors, and digital transformation, focusing on technology transfer, ecosystem collaboration, and capacity building.
During a meeting in Hanoi with Alex Rogers, Qualcomm's President of Global Affairs, Vietnam's top leader To Lam urged the company to further expand its operations in the country, emphasizing the importance of its semiconductor and digital infrastructure businesses.
